Fabulous and Baroque (A Boutique You SHOULD Know About)

I love ornate furniture! It's a big dream of mine to have our wedding in a beautiful castle with all ornate furniture from the Baroque style... I also dream of one day owning a dresser from the period (or a look-a-like) to help ease my eclectic heart...

While browsing the internet (as I often do), I came across the website of Fabulous and Baroque, and found the most amazing pieces. There's glamour, shine, gold, silver, rustic, ornate... a little bit of everything. They specialize in period furniture, "bringing them back to life into modern design thanks to the skillful ability of the most expert craftsmen, for interiors or unrivaled glamor".

Here's some of my fav...
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

I know, right? I love them all! There's so many great, glamorous pieces; I think this site was put online just for me! Had to be, right? I wanted to know a bit more about them so I read their "About" section. They provide one-of-a-kind period furniture that (for what you get) is well priced. Many items will definitely be out of budget, but that side table above is under $400. Besides furniture, they also sell rugs, mirrors, and lighting. So, go and take a look and let me know what you think!!

****In no way was I paid or asked to create this post! Not from Fabulous and Baroque, or any other person (or entity). THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED POST****

Have you bought anything from Fabulous and Baroque? Did you take a look at their website? What do you think? Love it as much as I do? Be sure to drop a comment and let me know!!!!

Pantone's 2013 Color of the Year... Emerald

Many people have been talking about this color in fashion, but what about interiors...

The best thing about this color is it can be as fun, dramatic, or as moody as you'd like it. Emerald can work with any style.

You can choose to go with an emerald-colored sofa or other large furniture piece. By pairing the color with a  white or gold, it'll look very fab and elegant. Other color combos are emerald and coral and emerald and gray.

Other options include emerald-colored curtains or accessories. That way the look is more minimal. This would make a modernist very happy, while still keeping up with the latest color trend.

If you can't find anything emerald-colored, you can always paint a dresser, end table, chair, lamp, or any other interesting accessory you may have.

I like to see walls painted Emerald. Why not? The color is so vivid and daring, it's guaranteed to make a statement.

Below are five of my favorite rooms using emerald.

I love how in the above room emerald was paired with gold, black, and white. The color scheme makes the room look rich and elegant. The zebra print mirror accentuates this idea.

Below is another emerald, gold, black, and white room.

Even though in the above room, the color is drenching the walls and floor, by mixing it with white and orange, the room is very fun and refreshing.

If you'd rather a more rustic room, you can get inspiration from the room above. The iron chandelier, tree in the corner, candle display, and buffet gives the room a slight country feel.

Here is another view of the third picture. It is definitely more glam than the last one. It also seems darker than  the other view, maybe because it appears that there isn't any overhead light.

So, I'm curious to know how YOU are incorporating emerald in your home this year... Do you keep up with Pantone's color predictions? Do you keep up with any other color trends?

XOXO

Want a Black & White Room?

I love to decorate and color theory is one of my favorite aspects of design. I’m always working on color combinations that work well together. Black and white is the most classic color scheme and is actually one of my favorite to use in an interior space (and in my wardrobe). It’s a color combination that is definitely here to stay. The resulting look is sophisticated and sleek, and is the perfect backdrop for an accent color to really make a room pop. The high contrast of black and white can also provide drama and elegance.

To pull off a great black and white color scheme, here are some tips:

  • To bring in a bit of elegance, get a furniture piece that is curvaceous, such as a buffet or coffee table.
  • It’s okay to mix a black and white color combo with wood pieces, especially dark wood.
  • Bring in translucent and/or glass furniture to modernize the space
  • Use framed artwork that’s either black frames with white matting or white frames with black matting. The latter is more dramatic. Having a bit of color in the artwork is fine too, but I like mostly black and white images when using this color scheme.

  • Don’t be afraid to add an accent color. Red, lime green, pink, and turquoise all make great pops of color.
  • You can’t go wrong with black and white strips. I love wide, horizontal, black and white stripes for window treatments.
  • Mix the scale of the patterns in your fabrics. Have small, medium, and large scale patterns to keep the color scheme from becoming a bore.

  • A zebra skin rug (faux, or not) works perfectly with a black and white color scheme and brings in a touch of luxury.

  • Use a variety of textures in all your furnishings: soft, hard, fluffy, shiny, smooth, rough, etc…

So there you are. These tips are in no way “rules of engagement” when decorating with a black and white color scheme. One thing to remember is that your space must reflect YOU and your design style. Make sure to go with what you truly love and it will ALWAYS love it.

Do you love black and white rooms like me? Have any tips on making this color scheme work? Drop a comment!

Pink Passion (Mood Board)

Pink is one of my favorite colors, so I wanted to get together some really cute furnishings that are inexpensive in this color. Any of the below items can go in any room, especially living rooms, bedrooms, and home offices. They're also really affordable, too. :)

My favorite color combinations are:

Pink & Green
Pink & White
Pink & Cream
Pink, Gold, & Mint Green
Pink & Brown

1.       Love this pillow. It’ll definitely go with many color schemes. Put it on any chair or sofa. $15.00
2.       Same thing for this pillow. It's very cute and could go with most themes. $16.00
3.       I could use this magazine rack. It's taller than most and transparent. It’ll be cute next to a sofa, desk, or even a night stand or end table. $80.00
4.       This is one of my favorite posters. It'll really pop in rooms with black, brown, gold, and or silver. $8.99
5.       Flamingo’s Dream”. Paint color by Benjamin Moore. Need I really say more??
6.       This mural comes in many different sizes from 4.5 ft. x 3 ft. all the way to a custom size to fit almost any size wall. If you have a flair for dramatics, this would definitely be show stopping on an accent wall. You can also get it at a smaller scale and create a border around it with molding.
7.       Really cute. You’ll only need one of these transparent side tables to make a statement. $179.00
8.       This lamp is sexy and would go well in a modern space. I can picture it on a parson’s desk in a home office, but of course you can also put it anywhere else in your home. $139.98
9.       This chair with the Greek Key pattern is everything to me. I would love to have this one! I'm putting it on my wish list! $227.99
10.   This rug is too hot! It also looks very comfortable. I can picture a really fab gold and glass coffee table sitting on top. $119-$651 depending on size
11.   Love these knobs, especially to glam up an inexpensive piece of furniture or an antique one that needs a little love. I would love to see them on a cream colored dresser. $8.00 each
12.   This Wishbone chairis definitely different from others. I love the form and shade of pink. It'll definitely be a conversation starter, so putting it in a living room would like the best place for it. Or even a dining room? Hmmm... $149.99
13.   This velvet fabric would look great as heavy drapes on a window. Or, you can use it to make luxurious pillows. For the pillows, you can embellish it with a cute crystal design for a bit of BLING. $16.98 per yd.
14.   You can get two of these ottomans and put them in any room for extra seating. $59.00
15.   This Pink Cube clock could be just the right of extra "Pink Pop" in your room. $16.59
16.   This Vista Task Chair even looks a little comfortable than some of the other inexpensive desk chairs on the market. $88.88

So, there you have it: 16 great pink pieces that’ll fit anywhere! If you have any of these in your space, please share a pic and let us know how you’re using it…
