5 Quick Ways to Add Color to Your Bath Room

I love a neutral color scheme in a bath, but I also REALLY LOVE to see a bathroom with pops of color. A colorful space is great refresher when you're getting up in the morning. My opinion is that colorful spaces make you happier. What better place to put you in a happier mood than in your bathroom?

Here's simple ways to bring color in your bathroom:

Change your Towels & Bathrugs

Your bath towels and bathrugs are a very inexpensive way to bring in color. The best part is that you can find so many different kinds and styles at most stores. My favorite place to buy them from are Target and Bed, Bath, & Beyond, because you get a variety of colors & styles at many different price points.

Install a Colorful Shower Curtain

Your shower curtain is very inexpensive way to bring in color. I would suggest getting two different ones that can be changed out every couple of weeks or so. It would be a fun way to switch it up for guests, or for yourself and your household. Just make sure that they both match the color scheme of the bathroom. (Unless you want to change up the entire color scheme every couple of weeks)

Paint your Wall

Paint may definitely be the biggest way to make an impact in a space. I love the dark gray in the below picture, but I usually prefer a brighter color in a bath, especially in a bathroom used often.

Add Colorful Artwork

I love to see colorful artwork in a bathroom, especially a small space (it just seems so much cooler with art)! I think bathrooms are a great way to bring in bold art pieces, especially if they're colorful. Guests love to get surprised by a fun piece of artwork!

Plants

Plants are a great way to bring in more color. Other than the green from any leaves on your plants, they're an unlimited amount of plants you could consider for your bathroom that could bring in pops of color.

Design Trend 2013: BRASS

Brass has been foretasted as a big design trend for 2013. I love the metal finishes and brass happens to be one of my favorite!

What is brass? Brass is a mixture of zinc and copper (making it an alloy), and because the amounts of zinc and copper varies, brass comes in a bunch of different shades (with different properties). Brass is strong and corrosion-resistant, so it makes a great item that needs to last a long time. Brass can be inexpensive, too!

Brass has been around for a LONG time and was really big in the 70s! My family still owns brass furniture from back then. I recently picked up a really cute brass headboard for my client from a garage sale. Brass looks great in all kinds of room, whether it's accessories, furniture, or even a wall finish. It gives even the newest items vintage appeal. I love to see brass used in the most glamorous and colorful rooms!

Behr Paint: Licorice Stick

I received a sample of Behr's, Licorice Stick, from a Behr "pink and red giveaway" contest. I actually forgot about the contest until I received the paint sample. I'm usually not a "red" person, but I love this color... it's a very cheer-y color and is more like a tomato red (in my opinion). I have an old secretary desk that needs a good paint job. Should I try this color on the desk??

Here's the desk... definitely in need of a major redo...

What do you think about Behr's, Licorice Stick, paint color? Do you think it'll look good on this secretary table? If not, what color would?

The Modern Glamour Baby's Moodboard

I love themed baby nurseries, but I'm more drawn to a baby's room that is less kiddie. In the future, I would prefer a room that features neutral colors and furniture that is adult-friendly and grows with the child. When I have my own kids, I would definitely be looking for furniture that could be moved from my child's nursery to another room when I want to refresh a space. This moodboard features items that are just that.

The crib chosen is convertible and all the furniture and accessories can grow with a child and can even be moved into another room, like your living room. The paint is a neutral color and the chandelier would look great in a luxurious bathroom or dining space. 

In this moodboard, I'm mixing a lot of patterns, but most resemble each other with a sort-of trellis design. 

The color scheme is gray, pink, and taupe, with small pops of mint green...

Todays Thrifts

I went to a yard sale today. There was a bunch of stuff out there, but I only found a few things to buy...

Of course I had to buy this gold cup...

My client has some pictures of herself that she wants hung up. I want to use these, but I may paint the frame gold or silver...

I'm not sure what I'll do with these, but I had to have them...

My client is going to love this headboard! We've been going back and forth about which style to go with, so I'm going to try and sell her on this one. Hey, for just $40, I'll use it myself if doesn't work out!...

I love thrifting, but I never have much luck with the really good stuff. I definitely need to find a great flea market in New Orleans. Do you know of any?
